Click here to learn more about the Solemnity of the Ascension. In 1999, our observance of the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord was transferred from the Thursday of the Sixth Week of Easter to the Seventh Sunday of Easter, which it replaces.
Solemnities, Feasts, and Memorials are days which are celebrated in commemoration of the sacred mysteries and events recorded in the history of our redemption, in memory of the Virgin Mother of Christ, or of His apostles, martyrs, and saints.
About the image: Ascension of Christ, by Pietro della Vecchia (1602/1603–1678), is found in the San Teonisto church, in Treviso, Italy.
